There is no man happier than a would-be father. There is no cry more heart-wrenching than that of a mother who lost her child.
Many couples have suffered the loss of a child. Some died of a disease, some by accident, and some by unsuccessful pregnancy.
Ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus. This is dangerous not only for the fetus but also for the mother. Centuries ago, little was known about ectopic pregnancy (often leading to miscarriage) other than a curse by uttered by gods.’ Due to technological advances today, we now have a proper perspective about this complication and determine the signs of ectopic pregnancy before it becomes too late.
The most common signs of ectopic pregnancy are as follows:
Pain in the abdominal area (sometimes suspected as strong cramps).
Menstrual cycle stops. A sign of pregnancy.
Bleeding in the vagina.
Familiarity with these signs of ectopic pregnancy keeps the mother from taking them seriously. Pregnancy is a delicate process, and mothers are expected to be keen about the slightest symptoms and to be careful in every action.
These signs of ectopic pregnancy usually occur a month and a half and up to two months after the last menstrual period. Since the signs of an ectopic pregnancy is similar to that of a normal pregnancy (tender breasts, dizziness, fatigue), some cases are discovered too late and puts the mother in a risky (health-wise) situation.
Still, the best way to identify ectopic pregnancy is to take advantage of technology.
Ultrasound tests that help doctors see what is happening in the uterus and determine pregnancy and condition of the fetus.
Blood tests for pregnancy hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG) levels are also used to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy.
If signs of ectopic pregnancy are detected early, these two tests are highly effective and accurate to confirm or negate suspicions.

Symptom is a noun for a condition, known by the patient, which may indicate disease or a body disorder. Experienced doctors (and soothsayers) look for symptoms to help them diagnose a disease or a condition.
For a concerned father-to-be, or a highly cautious pregnant mother, here are some common ectopic pregnancy symptoms:
•An overdue monthly period (a sign of pregnancy)
•Tender breasts (a sign of pregnancy)
•Nausea and fatigue (sometimes with dizziness)
•Increased urination
•Bleeding vagina
•Abdominal pain (stomach pain or a strong cramp)
•One side of the lower abdomen has recurring pain
Early ectopic pregnancy symptoms are similar to that of a normal pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy symptoms are sometimes confused with urinary system complications, gastrointestinal disorders, appendicitis and other abnormal gynaecological conditions.
Find out before it is too late.
Some women are clueless that they are pregnant and miss the chance of determining ectopic pregnancy symptoms sooner.
Taking this simple tests help diagnosing ectopic pregnancy :
•Ultrasound scan helps to determine a miscarriage, a normal pregnancy, or an ectopic pregnancy
•Pelvic exam. The size of a mother’s uterus during pregnancy helps determine an ectopic pregnancy
•Blood tests. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels can be determined through blood tests.
The rate of hCG levels will indicate the condition of pregnancy and may lead to further tests.
Medical emergencies can be avoided if we take careful precautions. Some giant diseases can be cured if diagnosed at an early stage. As for ectopic pregnancies, most results to miscarriage. The chance to have another pregnancy, however, depends on how early the complication is discovered, the mother’s health, and what methods are used to treat this pregnancy complication.
Pregnancy is a delicate phase in both a mother’s and a baby’s life. Parents therefore, should pay close attention to small symptoms that show up and seek professional advice on what actions to take.

During the first few weeks of pregnancy, the fertilized egg starts dividing and implants into the mother’s uterus. This is the beginning of a normal pregnancy. When the fertilized egg implants outside the mother’s womb, an ectopic pregnancy occurs.
An ectopic pregnancy is dangerous and usually leads to miscarriage. Women diagnosed with ectopic pregnancies have to choose whether to be treated with medication or to undergo an operation. Some medication treatments lead to surgery. Most of the time, surgery treatment requires medications after the operations.
When you have to choose whether to go under an operation or just use medications, the factors you need to consider are:
•The health of the mother.
•The treatment’s effect on future pregnancies.
No Incisions, Please…
Women who want to be spared with incisions prefer medications as ectopic pregnancy treatment
An injection of methotrexate stops the growth of cells. Taking methotrexate as an ectopic pregnancy treatment may cause nausea, dizziness, and gastric distress, depending on the overall condition of the patient.
When there is bleeding, and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is at a high level, surgery is needed. A small cut is made in a laparoscopic surgery, and a small camera in a thin tube is used to view the area. If there is heavy bleeding or raptured fallopian tube, the parent might need to through a laparotomy. A fallopian tube can be repaired at times. A ruptured fallopian tube, however, must be removed.
Medicine is the popular choice of ectopic pregnancy treatment especially when ectopic pregnancy is detected early. Since surgery cause scar tissues that can affect future pregnancy, most pregnant women make it their last resort.
Since both choices will have a lasting effect on the health and pregnancy of the mother, it is always advised that couples give it a lot of thought and consideration if ever they will have to face a situation that makes them choose which ectopic pregnancy treatment would work best for them.

Different women suffer from different kinds of pregnancy disorders and abnormalities during the early or later stages. Occurrence of ectopic pregnancy is one of these disorders. The other name for this disease is eccysis. The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are totally different from other complications. This complication is characterized by the implantation of the embryo outside the uterus or anywhere else than its right place.
Usually the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy occur when the fertilization of egg with a sperm takes place, it is within the uterus. However due to some abnormalities and physiological imbalances, the fertilization does not take place at the right place. Therefore the implantation of the embryo right after the completion of fertilization occurs in the wrong place. Certain
symptoms of ectopic pregnancy
can be a clear indication of this abnormality. Once diagnosed, it becomes very important to treat this problem in time.
It has been observed that ectopic pregnancy does not survive and the result is an in-viable embryo with serious physiological complications. Usually such pregnancies get aborted. It has been shown from the study of symptoms of ectopic pregnancy that it can prove to be very dangerous for the parent because it becomes the major cause of internal hemorrhage. In some cases life of mother with ectopic pregnancy is badly threatened. Usually the place where such abnormal implantation of embryo occurs is the fallopian tube. In this case it is called as the tubal pregnancy. However there are many other locations where ectopic pregnancy is found to occur.
The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are more or less the same regardless of the location where the embryo has settled and implanted itself. Other common locations where this ectopic pregnancy can be observed is the cervix, abdomen and ovaries. Basically this situation is regarded as a life threatening and serious emergency and many gynecologists suggest that it should be treated as soon as it is diagnosed. If this disease is left untreated, it can lead to alarming situations and even death. Although symptoms of ectopic pregnancy is almost the same in every case, there are certain indicative symptoms which indicate the presence of pregnancy in the fallopian tube or anywhere else.
The Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy become obvious even in the initial stages of pregnancy. When in comparison to a normal pregnancy, it becomes clear that the fertilized egg in spite of having enough space to settle in the uterine cavity implants itself in the place other than uterine lining. Statistical analysis has shown that about 1% of all the pregnancies are constituted of the ectopic pregnancy. Out of these cases of ectopic pregnancy, about 98% cases are those when the embryo gets implanted and fixed in the fallopian tube. This is a specific condition and is termed as tubal pregnancy.
The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are observed in the very beginning. Usually the embryo gets embedded in the lining of the fallopian tubes. Here it attacks the blood vessels and causes serious bleeding and hemorrhaging. When this bleeding gets intense, the vessels and tube eject the embryo out. This is called as the tubal termination. Although there are many sophisticated means by which the ectopic pregnancy can be detected and diagnosed, but still it is considered as a great risk for females and a cause of many maternal deaths.
Usually the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy remain hidden and become obvious at very late stages. The most obvious Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy include pain in the tubal portion where wrong implantation has occurred. The main cause of this abnormal pain is the accumulation of blood in the abdominal or peritoneal cavity. Sometimes it may also be due to the release of prostaglandins at the site of implantation. In some cases the bleeding is very heavy and it is to such an extent that it may cause the death of the patient. This increase in bleeding is due to a late diagnosis of the problem.
There are some exceptional symptoms of ectopic pregnancy when the bleeding occurs due to invasion of embryo in the nearby Sampson artery. It is the main artery and if it bleeds, then it may lead to death.
It has been observed that 50% cases of ectopic pregnancies are those in which the problem is resolved without any treatment. The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy in such cases are not very severe and are of minimal extent. Usually the fetus does not survive in these cases. Sometimes it happens on its own in early stages but sometimes it has to be done by surgery. Sometimes such medicines are given to the patients that help in reduction of the risk of surgery. One of these treatments is the application of methotrexate. This drug greatly reduces the possibility of surgery and miscarriage occurs on its own easily.
Sometimes the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy indicate a rupture in the fallopian tube. If this rupture and bleeding becomes uncontrolled, then it becomes necessary to operate. The surgery performed in such cases is called as Laparoscopy. The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy in both the tubal and non-tubal pregnancy cases are the same. Usually non-tubal pregnancies can be indicated by an abdominal or vaginal ultrasound. There are certain criteria on the basis of which the ovarian and tubal pregnancies can be distinguished.
Although the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy clearly show that the baby is implanted, in many cases are not viable. However some rare exceptions are those when a live baby is delivered. This usually occurs in case of abdominal pregnancy. These are the conditions when placenta is formed in the abdominal cavity and supplies enough blood and nutrients to the developing fetus through blood supply. Based on the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, it can be diagnosed during the 16th week of gestation. There are specific surgical methods devised for delivery of the fetus in these cases. It is decided on the basis of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy that surgical methods should be followed for delivering the baby.

The symptoms of ectopic pregnancy are not usually visible in the early stages. It has been observed that early symptoms of this abnormality in pregnancy are silent. Usually the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy start appearing about 7 weeks after the last menstrual period. It is usually the 8th or even 16th week of pregnancy when the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy start appearing. Only modern facilities in diagnostics research have been able to diagnose the ectopic conception at early stages. An early diagnosis of this abnormality results in earlier and much facilitated treatment of the problem. Certain very obvious
symptoms of ectopic pregnancy
are observed in many cases. Some of these signs and symptoms showing a confirmation of this abnormality in pregnancy are as follows:
• Usually the patient feels a strong pain in the lower abdominal cavity. In many cases, inflammation in the abdomen also occurs with pain. Sometimes this pain is confused with common abdominal or stomach pain. It gives the patient the feeling of a cramp like situation.
• The biggest and most obvious among the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy is observed while the patient urinates. This is usually in case of implantation of fetus near cervix.
• Generally the patient feels pain and discomfort. Although this pain is mild, it is very different from the abnormality cause by the corpus luteum. Some other symptoms of ectopic pregnancy resemble the common symptoms of normal pregnancy.
• Sometimes a mild level of bleeding is observed in vagina. The most obvious symptoms of ectopic pregnancy is a failing pregnancy which results from a fall in levels of progesterone by corpus luteum and ovary. This symptom usually cannot be distinguished as some implantation bleeding may also occur in case of normal pregnancies.
• In other cases the patient also feels difficulty and pain during the bowel movements.
• Usually the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy in later stages are observed by a typical pain in lower abdomen and bleeding in severe cases. The bleeding can be of two types. One form of bleeding occurring in ectopic pregnancy is vaginal which is visible. On the other hand internal bleeding may also occur which is more dangerous. Whether the bleeding is internal or external, it has two distinct mechanisms. These mechanisms are as follows:
External bleeding occurs in case of ectopic pregnancy when the levels of progesterone fall below a certain level.
An internal bleeding shows the presence of a hemorrhage present in the affected tube where the embryo implants itself.
The difference in diagnosing the various forms of pregnancy is observed when an abnormal pregnancy and an ectopic pregnancy are differentiated from each other. In order to evaluate the right form of complication, it is necessary to know all the detail of the Symptoms of Ectopic Pregnancy. Sometimes the symptoms resemble those of the pelvic inflammation. But the confirmation of existence of pregnancy simply rules out the possibility of Pelvic Syndrome. Therefore care is needed when diagnosed because in many cases and early ectopic pregnancy is confused with the pelvic inflammatory disease. Internal bleeding is the most common among the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy. If internal bleeding occurs during pregnancy, it can cause certain other symptoms may appear which indicate the ectopic pregnancy.
• Many patients feel a pain in their lower back portion. Sometimes abdominal and pelvic pain may also occur.
• Sometimes internal bleeding cause the tracking of blood into the upper parts of body, which ultimately results in shoulder pain. In addition to this abdominal muscles, the diaphragm is also disturbed. Among the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, this is the most dangerous and worst symptom.
• Cramps are felt strongly arising around and inside the pelvic region. Sometimes the pelvic part also becomes tender.
• The pain and changes arising in the pelvic region are observed in the beginning of the pregnancy. This pain is often confused with the pelvic pain. However it is quite different from the latter.
Sometimes symptoms of ectopic pregnancy also appear to be confused with symptoms of other diseases like appendicitis. Along with this, urinary system is also badly affected resulting in inflammatory problems and pelvic diseases. Usually occurrence of ectopic pregnancy is accompanied with many risks. However there are certain cases in which ectopic pregnancy may end up with normal results and delivery of a living and normal baby.
Other serious
symptoms of ectopic pregnancy,
and the risk factors related to this problem are such that they have long lasting effects on the health of patient. According to statistics one third to one half of the cases of ectopic pregnancies are those where no internal or external risk factor is involved. Some common risks associated with the ectopic pregnancy are infertility, pelvic disease, tubal surgery, tubal ligation and many others.
Another distinguished feature of the fallopian which may become one of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy in the future is the loss of hair like cilia of the fallopian tube. Basically these cilia are meant to beat in a regular fashion, resulting in the movement and transportation of embryo to the uterus. A lack of cilia results in loss of movement and delayed transport of embryo to right place. It ultimately results in implantation of embryo in the fallopian tube.
Occurrence of pelvic inflammation is a factor which can increase the risk of having ectopic pregnancy. Another important occurrence which can be regarded among the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy is development of a scar tissue on the fallopian tubes. This can also damage the cilia of fallopian tube. In short a detailed study of cause and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy is very important to know the real problem and find out its solution. If it is diagnosed at earlier stages, certain measures can be taken to cure or solve the problem which may also result in the pregnancy ending up with healthy and normal delivery.
